Introduction
At its eighth meeting held in Geneva from 24 April to 5 May 2017, the Conference of the Parties to the Rotterdam Convention agreed on the decisions contained in annex I to the report of the meeting, document UNEP/FAO/RC/COP.8/27. Many of the decisions included invitations to Parties and others to provide information.
A letter was sent to Parties and observers to solicit information sought in the decisions adopted by the Conference of the Parties to the Rotterdam Convention at its eighth meeting. The individual invitations to submit information are organized by decisions. Information sought in each decision can be transmitted separately, since the deadlines for submission vary.
Similar letters have also been prepared to solicit information sought in the decisions adopted by the conferences of the Parties to the Basel and Stockholm conventions at their 2017 meetings and are available on the Basel and Stockholm convention’s websites.
Following decisions RC-8/2, RC-8/3, RC-8/4 and RC-8/5 to list respectively carbofuran, trichlorfon, short-chain chlorinated paraffins and tributyltin compounds in Annex III to the Convention, the Secretariat sent a letter to Parties circulating the related Decision Guidance Documents on and inviting Parties to submit import responses.
Additionally, a separate letter was sent to request Parties to provide information on exports, export notifications and information exchange.
