Introduction
At the online segment of its tenth meeting, the Conference of the Parties to the Rotterdam Convention adopted decision RC-10/3, on interim programme of work and budget of the Rotterdam Convention for 2022, in which it took note of the modalities for the continuation of the intersessional work until new decisions would be adopted at the face to face segment of its meeting in 2022 (see document UNEP/CHW.15/INF/69–UNEP/FAO/RC/COP.10/INF/49–UNEP/POPS/COP.10/INF/71).
The following letter was sent to Parties and observers to solicit information and comments sought on relevant products in the extended intersessional period leading to the face-to-face segment of the tenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties in 2022. The individual invitations to submit information are organized by relevant COP agenda items. Information sought in each item can be transmitted separately, since the deadlines for submission vary.
In addition, a second letter was sent in November 2022 inviting Parties to submit proposals on the use of potential savings made during the biennium 2020-2021 owing to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic, pursuant to decisions BC-15/2, RC-10/3 and SC-10/4. Responses from Parties are to be sent to the Secretariat by 28 February 2022.
Similar letters have also been prepared to solicit information sought in follow-up to the online segment of the meetings of the conferences of the Parties to the Basel and Stockholm conventions and are available on the Basel and Stockholm convention’s websites.
