1. The twentieth meeting of the Chemical Review Committee of the Rotterdam Convention on the Prior Informed Consent Procedure for Certain Hazardous Chemicals and Pesticides in International Trade will be held in Rome from 17 to 20 September 2024. The meeting will be opened by the Chair of the Committee, Noluzuko Gwayi (South Africa), at 9.30 a.m. on Tuesday, 17 September.

1. By decision RC-2/2, the Conference of the Parties to the Rotterdam Convention on the Prior Informed Consent Procedure for Certain Hazardous Chemicals and Pesticides in International Trade adopted a process for the preparation of draft decision guidance documents, which was subsequently amended by decisions RC-6/3 and RC-7/3. In accordance with the process, task groups are to be established for notifications of chemicals and severely hazardous pesticide formulations scheduled for consideration by the Chemical Review Committee. The present note sets out, in an Excel file, an updated indicative list of substances covered by the listing of perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA), its salts and PFOA-related compounds under the Rotterdam Convention on the Prior Informed Consent Procedure for Certain Hazardous Chemicals and Pesticides in International Trade and the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants. Pursuant to decision RC-10/8, the Secretariat is to prepare, in consultation with the Chemical Review Committee, an indicative list of PFOA, its salts and PFOA-related compounds, make it available on the website of the Convention and update it periodically.
