Laws, regulations, policies, procedures and other measures to implement the Convention

Within its mandate under its review of systemic issues of general compliance, the Committee was requested to undertake a number of activities.

By its decision RC-11/5, the Conference of the Parties mandated the Committee to:

  1. Monitor, based on information from Parties, the laws, regulations, policies, procedures and other measures adopted to implement the Rotterdam Convention
  2. Based on information from Parties, identify and review difficulties relating to laws, regulations, policies, procedures and other measures to implement the Rotterdam Convention
  3. Develop recommendations for consideration by the Conference of the Parties on steps that could be taken by Parties, the Conference of the Parties, the Compliance Committee and others to improve the laws, regulations, policies, procedures and other measures to implement the Convention.

The Compliance Committee has circulated to Parties a set of questions to collect information, including on legislative and administrative measures to implement the Convention. Responses received from Parties are available here.
