A deep dive into the Rotterdam Convention

This new self-paced course serves as a ‘one-stop-shop’ for those keen to explore the mechanisms and provisions of the Rotterdam Convention, as well as the breadth of available resources to support its implementation. The course is primarily targeted at Designated National Authorities (DNAs) and Official Contact Points (OCPs). It also offers valuable knowledge for other actors with a role in the implementation of the Convention, such as custom authorities to chemical importers. Upon successful completion, users are awarded a certificate. The course is available in an online format with animations and interactive exercises, as well as offline with a full package of supporting materials including presentations, handouts and learning journals. Currently available in English, it will soon be available in French and Spanish. The online course is available on UNCC:e-learn and will soon be available on InforMEA. Welcome to the Interactive Training on the Operation of the Rotterdam Convention (ITORC)

The Secretariat of the Rotterdam Convention has developed this e-Learning tool with the goal of providing technical training to Designated National Authorities (DNA) and other interested stakeholders for the implementation of the Convention. For each of the four key operational elements of the Rotterdam Convention a training course has been designed including an overview of the obligations and operational procedure of the Convention, an introduction to the standard forms to be completed and submitted by the DNA, and in-depth discussions on specific issues. Each course contains a case study that aims to provide practical experience in the implementation of the individual operational procedures.

Note: ITORC was originally developed to use Adobe Flash Player, which is now discontinued. This training is now executed using Ruffle, a Flash emulator, some minor issues may occur.
