La Paz, Bolivia, from 8 April 2025 to 10 April 2025
Highlights: The Rotterdam Convention on the Prior Informed Consent Procedure for Certain Hazardous Chemicals and Pesticides in International Trade is a legally binding multilateral environmental agreement, which entered into force in 2004. Bolivia has ratified the Rotterdam Convention in 2004. While Bolivia has made commendable progress in implementing the Rotterdam Convention, the Ministry of Environment and Water of Bolivia has expressed the need for technical assistance, in particular, to develop (a) draft law(s) and/or decrees for chemicals management, including a registration/authorization system for industrial chemicals, and to develop a national action plan for the implementation of the Rotterdam Convention. Therefore, the Secretariat of the Rotterdam Convention and the Ministry of Environment and Water have initiated a project to strengthen the implementation of the Rotterdam Convention in Bolivia. The project is funded by the European Union.
