In April 2018 the FAO’s based Rotterdam Convention Secretariat received requests for technical support related to submission of Notification of Final Regulatory Actions for banned and/or restricted chemicals to the Secretariat from the Designated National Authorities (DNAs) of 5 Parties from the Southern African Development Community (SDAC) namely: Mozambique, Eswatini, Tanzania, Lesotho and Malawi.
The Secretariat responded positively and a joint sub-regional training on FRA Notifications to the Convention was organized and hosted by Mozambique from 10 - 12 July 2018.
The workshop was planned as a 3 days practical training workshop intended to facilitate submission of Notifications of final regulatory actions for banned and/or restricted chemicals to the Secretariat in accordance with Article 5 of the Convention text.
