Online, from 27 to 28 July 2022
Highlights: Malaysia has requested the Secretariat for technical assistance in order to strengthen national capacity in the implementation of the Rotterdam Convention tailed to the country specific needs. The first online workshop (19 – 21 January 2022) provided training and action planning among the official contact points, DNAs and their technical staff, as many of the personnel are new to the Convention. Participants reviewed in detail the status of implementation of the Convention in the country and for each of the obligations under the Convention to consider what is to be done, how, by whom and how things might be improved.
The second online workshop is scheduled from 27 – 28 July involving national stakeholders from the relevant ministries and agencies as well as the private sector and NGOs under the coordination of both DNAs. The involvement of relevant national stakeholders is vital in ensuring effective implementation of the Convention at national level.
Organizers: The workshop is organized jointly by the Department of Environment Malaysia (DNA-C), the Department of Agriculture Malaysia (DNA-P) and the Rotterdam Convention Secretariat.

Objectives: To build capacity among national stakeholders for the effective implementation of the Rotterdam Convention.
Target Audience: National stakeholders from the relevant ministries and agencies as well as the private sector and NGOs under the coordination of both DNAs.
