In its decision RC-9/2, on the operation of the Chemical Review Committee, the Conference of the Parties to the Rotterdam Convention on the Prior Informed Consent Procedure for Certain Hazardous Chemicals and Pesticides in International Trade appointed 14 designated experts to serve as members of the Committee, with terms of office from 1 May 2020 to 30 April 2024. No replacement of members has taken place since the ninth meeting of the Conference of the Parties.

1. In decision RC-9/2, the Conference of the Parties to the Rotterdam Convention on the Prior Informed Consent Procedure for Certain Hazardous Chemicals and Pesticides in International Trade welcomed the Secretariat’s recommendations in document UNEP/FAO/RC/COP.9/INF/18 for improving participation, openness and transparency in the Chemical Review Committee process. One of these recommendations was to conduct a survey amongst current and past members of the Committee to collect information about their capacity-building needs to participate effectively in the work of the Committee. The Chemical Review Committee discussed the collection of such information during its fifteenth and sixteenth meetings and it was noted that such a survey would be conducted for the first time following the sixteenth meeting of the Committee in 2020.
