The Rotterdam Convention Secretariat organises webinars as a means to deliver technical assistance and disseminate information to Designated National Authorities and other stakeholders. Participants can join and interact with experts to gain experience in the implementation of the Rotterdam Convention. Webinar training sessions prior to the Covid-19 pandemic presented case studies and training units that the Secretariat delivered during face-to-face training courses, giving access to a larger number of stakeholders.
During the Covid-19 pandemic over the course of 2020, webinars have constituted a central area of work for the Rotterdam Convention and its technical assistance programme. These online sessions have proved a great success in terms of knowledge delivery and exchange of information, and serves as an additional communication channel with DNAs and other stakeholders during this difficult period.
The webinar library provides recorded training units and information sessions on several thematic areas such as: new chemicals listed under the Convention, Industrial Chemicals management, the Role of DNAs, briefings on the meetings of the Conference of the Parties and the Chemical Review Committee under the Convention. Connecting to the webinar sessions is easy. A webinars users' guide explains how to connect and join the webinars. See our statistics on webinar participation from different regions.
