Training on the Rotterdam Convention in the framework of the Coordinating Group of Pesticides Control Boards of the Caribbean (CGPC) Meeting and the Steering Committee meeting for the project GCP/SLC/204/GFF

Outcome

  • Participants trained on the obligations and opportunities of the Rotterdam Convention– showed cases of pesticide poisoning and reporting SHPF incidents – in collaboration with PAN-UK – shared experience of Georgia and Portuguese-speaking African SIDS countries
  • Mainstreamed gender and youth involvement as well as the importance of vocational training in pesticide management during group exercises and plenary discussions
  • Stressed the importance of training medical personnel in health centers for reporting poisoning cases in the framework of article 6 by many Caribbean participants
  • Provided inputs and shared experience on legal gap analysis – same analysis also in Caribbean area by a national consultant
  • Visited the Caribbean’s leading aerosol manufacturer based on the island of Barbados. 
  • Facilitate discussion during group exercise led by PAN-UK on HHPs and alternatives.
